Most business owners think they’re visible. They’re not.

Let’s be real—there are a lot of talented, driven business owners out there putting their heart into their work... and completely blending into the background online.

They think,“Well I have a website… I posted a few things on Instagram… I’m good.”

But when you actually search for them? They’re hard to find. Or worse—what you do find doesn’t represent the quality of what they offer. That disconnect costs them visibility, connection, and ultimately clients.

So let’s fix that.

This is your no-fluff guide to showing up online with confidence, consistency, and purpose—starting with the visuals people remember before they ever read your bio.

Start With Branding Images That Actually Represent You

A strong online presence starts with imagery that aligns with your brand voice, energy, and goals—not the random selfie from a good hair day or the group photo you cropped your friend out of.

But here’s the real secret: one great photo isn’t enough.

You need a visual library that gives you variety and flexibility. Because your brand doesn’t live in one place—it moves across platforms, feeds, email lists, websites, and more.

That means having:

  • Multiple outfits to reflect your range

  • A mix of expressions—inviting, professional, strong, soft

  • Different environments—studio, lifestyle, on-brand locations

  • A combination of tight headshots, wide shots, detail shots, and in-action moments

When your imagery is this well thought out, it works with you across every platform. It saves you time, boosts your confidence, and ensures your first impression matches the level you actually operate at.

Use Your Images With Intention

Now that you have the right images, let’s make sure they’re working for you.

On your website:

  • Place a standout image above the fold—people should see your face as soon as the page loads

  • Use supporting images on your About page, Services page, and even in testimonials

  • Make it personal—your potential clients want to connect with the person behind the brand

On social media:

  • Rotate your images across posts and platforms with different messaging (one image = 5+ uses)

  • Use a headshot in one post, then a working shot in the next

  • Pair each photo with messaging that matches the mood—light, bold, emotional, informative

This is how you build a consistent, memorable presence without repeating yourself or reinventing the wheel.

Create a Connected Digital Presence (No Dead Ends)

One of the easiest ways to lose trust online? Broken links. Incomplete profiles. Dead ends.

So let’s clean it up:

  • Your website should link to your Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and wherever else you’re active

  • Every one of your social profiles should link back to your website (preferably your booking or contact page)

  • Make it easy to go from interested to in touch in one click

Think of your digital presence like an ecosystem—everything should point back to the center: you.

Google Yourself Like a Stranger Would

This is one of my favorite tips—and one most people don’t think to do.

Here’s how:

  1. Open an incognito window (so you’re not logged in or tracked)

  2. Google your name and your business name

  3. Ask yourself:Would I trust this person if I had never met them?Would I even find them at all?

Look at what shows up:

  • Do you have a Google Business profile?

  • Do your images pop up?

  • Can someone click to your website or contact info easily?

  • Do you have any reviews? Press features? Visibility?

  • Did your website show in search results?

  • How about your social media profiles?

Because honestly? I’ve looked up businesses I’ve met at events or seen recommended in a group—and I couldn’t find anything. No website. No Google listing. Not even a profile pic on social media.

And that’s a red flag for potential clients.

If someone is searching for you—you want them to find a clear, confident, visually aligned digital presence that says:“Yes, I’m the one you’ve been looking for. And I’m ready.”

This isn’t about ego. It’s about control. If someone is searching for you—you want to make sure what they’re finding reflects who you are right now.

Set Up (and Actively Use) Your Google Business Profile

If you don’t already have a Google Business profile, stop reading this and go set one up. Seriously.

It’s free. It’s local SEO gold. And it makes you findable.

Here’s what to include:

  • Updated contact info and hours

  • A short bio written in your voice

  • A few professional branding photos

  • At least 3–5 client reviews (you can always request more later)

This one step alone can boost your discoverability in a major way—especially if you serve clients locally.

People Will Remember Your Photos Before They Remember Your Name

Let’s be honest—we’re all visual.

When someone scrolls, they may not catch your business name. But they will remember how you looked.Your confidence.Your warmth. The way your presence came through the screen.

That’s what branding photography gives you. Not just pictures. Presence.

And when people feel like they know you before they even meet you, booking becomes a no-brainer.

You’re Not Invisible. You Just Need Strategy to Show Up Confidently Online.

It’s not enough to have great services or a heart for what you do.You need to show up. With clarity. With confidence. With visuals that reflect the brand you’re building.

If you're ready to be seen—and seen well—I’d love to help.
